Aaron Ramsey was really good against CSKA Moscow. He led all players in shots and his passing / movement unbalanced CSKA’s defense creating chances for the Gunners. It was probably his best game of the season and an example of the dynamic attacking threat he can provide when fit and in form. For more analysis, check out xGunners’ stats recap.
Oh, and he scored two goals, including this candidate (at least in my estimation) for Arsenal’s goal of the season.

While not a worldie, his other goal was a composed finish off a lovely piece of combination play - Wengerball at its glorious best. Arsenal had several moves like the one below and Ramsey was involved in most, if not all of them.

Ramsey’s performance earned him Europa League Player of the Week honors. The Welshman garnered 70% of the fan vote. Second place vote-getter Antoine Griezmann only managed 17%.
Arsene Wenger praised Ramsey’s skill and decision-making in going with the incredibly difficult backheel flick and said that part of what made the goal so special was the “element of surprise” of the move. Wenger said the goal compared favorably with Dennis Bergkamp’s pirouetting turn and volley against Newcastle - incredibly high praise. For those of you who don’t remember, bask in its glory.
And please, enjoy one more Ramsey GIF. Just because.
