It’s been more than 18 months since Santi Cazorla last played for Arsenal. To say that he has been missed would be a huge understatement. The “little magician” ran the midfield and provided the creative spark that has been sorely missing from Arsenal’s attack.
By now everyone is familiar with Cazorla’s injury hell. He’s had ten surgeries since limping off with an Achilles problem in October 2016. He’s also battled infections, had a skin graft and even faced the possibility of losing his foot to amputation.
That is why the sight of Cazorla training on the pitch at Emirates Stadium was met with excitement from fans as well as his teammates. Before Arsenal played host to Atletico Madrid, the Spaniard was spotted doing drills inside the stadium.

Even before Arsene Wenger announced he was leaving the club, Cazorla’s future in London was unclear. His contract is up this summer. However, it was thought that Wenger would offer the player a new deal if he could recover and regain his fitness. That seems rather unlikely now. Cazorla is 33 and would be returning after two years out of action. The new manager, would almost certainly be looking elsewhere.
Beyond his impact on the pitch, Cazorla is one of the most well liked players in the league. He’s even held in high regard by rival fans.
Santi is back, I do not like @Arsenal but this man deserves respect. Glory glory Santi cazorla https://t.co/lFZgVGz0Lv

It would be great to see Cazorla back playing for Arsenal at least one more time. The Gunners’ midfield has truly missed his skill and play making abilities. His determination to return to the pitch should be rewarded. Whether he plays in North London or elsewhere, a lot of football fans will be rooting for him. It will be great to hear the Oh Santi Cazorla chant being sung once again.
