After sweeping across the Iberian Peninsula and France, Winter Storm Emma, dubbed ‘The Beast from the East’ arrived in London today, blanketing the city in snow, snarling traffic, and forcing cancellations citywide. Should the snow / dangerous conditions persist, tomorrow’s match at the Emirates with Manchester City may be rescheduled.
This fixture has already been moved once - the match was originally scheduled for Sunday but was moved because of the Carabao Cup final. Should tomorrow’s match be postponed, it will be rescheduled for March 17th according to the London branch of the Arsenal Football Supporters Club twitter account.
One of the cooler things (no pun intended) to come out of the storm - this picture.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are using heaters to melt the snow and dry the pitch. Of course much more goes into hosting a match than having a pitch fit to play on - people have to be able to travel to and from the stadium safely, sidewalks, seats, and stairs have to be clear of ice, etc. The club is likely doing everything in its power to avoid postponing the match, but sometimes Mother Nature has her own ideas.
We’ll let you know as soon as there is an official statement from the club / the Premier League on the status of the match.
