Arsene Wenger’s future at Arsenal past this season apparently hinges on whether or not he is able to get the club into Champions League football next season, so says the Daily Mail.
“…so says the Daily Mail.”
Anyway, the Mail states that the club has three (rather obvious) options on the table for Wenger: fire or let him resign following this season, let him see out the end of his current contract that’s set to end after next season, or sign him to another contract extension. And with the club in the middle of kit negotiations and the two rumored brands – Adidas and Nike - in line to take over from Puma following the 2018-2019 season, Arsenal is worried that continued seasons outside of Europe’s top-flight competition will see their earnings potential decrease due to the apparel companies’ hesitancy investing massive amounts of money into a meddling Europa League contender.
This being the Daily Mail, the standard operating procedure at The Short Fuse is to take grains of salt with whatever they publish. But this does follow recent murmurs that CEO Ivan Gazidis and the Board have been considering alternative options to Wenger, which could possibly portend one significant change in the near-future.
