The next time we come together for a Friday open thread 2018 will have turned to 2019. Next Friday’s thread will likely be something about New Year’s Resolutions, so for today, I’d like to look back.

Over the next few days, I plan to think back over my year — to remember the good times, congratulate myself for successes, and think about where I may have fallen a bit short. It sounds a bit trite / pop psychology-esque, but I’m going to think about what from 2018 I want to take with me into 2019 and what I want to leave behind. I’d encourage you all to do the same, even if only for a few minutes.

As I start to think back, the first thought that jumps to mind is that I am thankful. Thankful for the people in my life, my family and friends who have laughed with me, cared for me, and helped pick me up when I’ve fallen down. I am thankful for all the fun and exciting things I’ve was able to do over the past year. And I’m thankful to be a part of the great community here at TSF, to write about the greatest club in the world, and to sometimes have people read what I’ve written.

So to help you get started reflecting on your year, I ask the following: what was your best moment / memory from 2018? Did you take a special trip? Have a big life event like a wedding, the birth of a child, a graduation, etc.? Did you start a new job? Or was the best moment of your year something less grandiose - a delicious meal with people close to you, a fun weekend outing with good friends, something along those lines. Let us know in the comments!
