Arsenal vs. Blackpool: yet another cup tie

Oh yeah, we’re playing in the Carabao Cup, too.

Arsenal’s hectic schedule continues with a Carabao Cup game against Blackpool FC at the Emirates.

Blackpool, currently of League One, haven’t seen Premier League action since the 2010-2011 season, and they haven’t beaten Arsenal since 1958. Between that and the fact that it’s the League Cup, this match screams rotation. It will be important for the team to make it through today’s game without any injuries—the Gunners are already extremely thin at left back, and they probably can’t afford to lose any other defenders, either.

Petr Cech and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are available to play again, but don’t expect to see Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, or Hector Bellerin. Emile Smith Rowe may get another run out, and there will probably be a handful more junior players on the bench if not starting. Blackpool will play without defender Donervan Daniels, who has a hamstring injury, and forward Armand Gnanduillet, who is suspended after receiving a red card last Saturday.
