While Arsenal have been enjoying successful run of play over the last month, winning seven matches in a row across all competitions, the situation off the pitch has not been so pleasant. Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey, currently Arsenal’s longest tenured player, has seen his contract negotiations with the club apparently come to a terminal stage, if a recent development is to be believed.

According to news outlets, Aaron’s agent company, Avid Sports & Entertainment Group, reportedly revealed that Ramsey would be leaving the club in a back-and-forth with a disgruntled Arsenal fan. Most notably, the tweet insinuates that the decision had been made by the club and not by Ramsey.

The claim that Arsenal made the decision corroborates the news that surfaced last week that reported that Arsenal had rescinded their contract offer after neither parties could agree to terms. However, damning the club further was a second tweet to a fan stating that Ramsey had wanted to stay at Arsenal.

While this report seems to add extra fuel to the Ramsey contract dumpster fire, there is reason to view the company’s tweets speculatively. True to Twitter fiasco standard operating procedure, Avid has already deleted their tweets, but we all know that the internet never forgets.

Despite the sobering tweets and the fact that many fans have already begun preparing for a life after Rambo, nothing is officially done until there is a picture of a player holding up a kit. Until then, Aaron will continue to suit up for the Arsenal.
