Friday open thread: Expanding your horizons

NCAA Football: Bowling Green at Oregon Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Friday! It’s almost the weekend, which means doing stuff that isn’t work. For me and the lovely mrs. pdb, it means going to a college football game. This is not something we normally do - neither of us really likes football at all (any level, not just college), and while I can’t speak for her, the last football game I attended in person was almost 30 years ago. So yeah, the sport itself is not our jam. But!

We have some very good friends who are University of Oregon alumni, and they’ve been Duck season ticket holders for about the same amount of time since I last went to a game. As things like this tend to go, they’ve seen their group of game pals expand from their college buddies to those people and their families and friends, and this weekend we, and another couple friends of ours, have been invited to join this group for the Ducks game against the Huskies down in Eugene. How can we say no to that?

Regardless of the actual football game part, it will be fun to hang out with our friends and tailgate with them and their friends, and it’s supposed to be a glorious, 70-plus degree late fall day. It should be a really fun day, even if it’s a day we’d never choose to do if it were just the two of us.

Have you done anything lately that isn’t something you’d normally do?

Anything else you want to talk about today? It’s an open thread, so let’s chat!
