Remember when we all thought Arsenal didn’t do a lot of business in the January window? Remember when Arsene didn’t like this window? That’s two narratives destroyed today. Hey guess what? This is what a squad rebuild looks like. Or at least stage one of a rebuild - it’s hard to do a wholesale rebuild in January, but it’s definitely a first step along that path. We saw Arsenal sell multiple players (some to Premier League rivals), we saw a club-record signing, and we saw a beloved Frenchman move to a different London club, yet all of those moves pale in comparison to today’s news that Mesut Ozil has signed a contract extension.

We will have much more on “What Does All This Mean” in the days to come, but for now, that’s a wrap for the moves the club made. It’s only about five months until the real fun starts again; in the meantime, we’ll have to settle for watching Arsenal.
