According to David Ornstein, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are close to an agreement for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a deal that will cost Arsenal a club-record £60m. Over the weekend the deal looked dead, as Aubameyang started for Dortmund in a 2-2 draw with Freiburg, but Dortmund left the sale a possibility as long as Arsenal met their asking price. After days of reticence, it seems as they have.
BREAKING: Arsenal close to reaching agreement to sign to striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for club-record fee in region of £60m. Transfer won’t be sanctioned until #BVB have replacement lined up - remains unclear if that will be Olivier Giroud or not #AFC

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Olivier Giroud will not be part of the deal, with the Frenchman not wanting to leave London, leaving a move to Chelsea a possibility.
Aubameyang, who turns 29 in the summer, has scored 21 goals in 24 games this season, and 141 in 213 games for Borussia Dortmund. It is as of yet unclear how he and Alexandre Lacazette—Arsenal’s previous record signing—will combine in the same team, especially taking into consideration needs to also get Mesut Özil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan into the team. At the very least, though, it shouldn’t be boring.
