Transfer Rumor: Borussia Dortmund reject Arsenal’s Aubameyang offer

The roulette wheel that is the transfer window, just keeps spinnin’, doesn’t it? Today’s turn of said transfer wheel landed on a spot marked “sorry, try again”. Arsenal have had their latest bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - a bid that was reportedly £50 million - rejected.

Dortmund are looking for bids in excess of £50 million, and you know what that means - anyone making a £50,000,001 joke will be publicly shamed and forced, Clockwork Orange-style, to watch actual funny people make actual funny jokes until they learn what is funny and what is not.

Aaaaaanyway, it was originally thought that Arsenal might include Olivier Giroud in a deal for Auba, but this bid was straight-up cash. Arsenal, as is their wont, are not publicly saying what they’ll do next, but if this bid is any indication, they’ll probably try to stick to that, and to hold on to Giroud as well as landing Auba. Which I think we can all agree would be the best possible outcome.

If I had to guess, I’d say this deal gets done in the next couple days - the difference between £50 and £60 million is trivial at that level, so it’ll just be a question of getting to £55M and calling it a day.
