Sven Mislintat and Arsenal representatives are working hard on a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Dortmund have been quoted as wanting £60 million for the striker but now are insisting on a replacement as well. The man they want is Olivier Giroud and the club has even told Arsenal they can wait until summer without the transfer.

Olivier may very well be keen to go to. Since the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, he has seen his time on the pitch severely reduced and with the World Cup fast approaching, Giroud will want to get some solid time under his belt and make the case that he should lead the line for France. The 31-year-old has been a solid performer for Arsenal, scoring 105 goals since joining in 2012. His play served Arsenal’s style well, being the loan target man at the club but if Arsenal are looking to move forward, it is unlikely that Giroud is long-term in their plans.

As strong bids keep being passed, the allure of adding Aubameyang in an already busy window for Arsenal might push the deal with Giroud going the other way into reality. Whether it will be in the terms of a swap, like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez deal was, remains to be seen.
