Here we are, in a semifinal that nobody really cares about. But I like semifinals, because they’re one step away from winning a thing, and winning a thing is good, even the League Cup. Arsenal are very, very banged up right now, and even Mesut Özil is now a doubt, joining almost every other Arsenal player of note in the treatment room. Or so it seems.
Anyway, we can’t control that; all we can do is hope Arsenal can do a job against what is likely to be a much stronger Chelsea side. Hope springs eternal and all that, right? I mean, either way, the result’s not bad - win over the two legs and it’s a trip to Wembley, lose and that’s one less week with three games in it. Which isn’t a huge amount of schedule clearance, but every little bit helps.
Yes, this is what I’m reduced to. Up the Arsenal.
