Arsenal will attempt to get their Premier League campaign back on track, as Bournemouth come to the Emirates. With the transfer window now closed and the first international break of the season over, the Premier League starts in earnest, and Arsenal, having lost two out of three matches, and conceded 8 goals in 3 games, have work to do.
The good news is that PE Teacher and School Prefect Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth are one of four teams worse than Arsenal. Bournemouth have scored a solitary goal in the Premier League, Charlie Daniels’ wonderstrike against Manchester City, and have lost all three games.
Bournemouth have not changed much from last season’s version. Jack Wilshere is gone, of course, but that seems no loss, given their best form came without him in the side. Jermain Defoe signed on a free, Nathan Aké signed permanently, and Asmir Begovic joined from Chelsea. Otherwise, it is the same workmanlike midfield, with the craft and guile coming from players like Ryan Fraser, and the powerful running of second striker Joshua King.
Bournemouth lined up in a 3-5-2 against City but generally play with a 4-4-1-1 system. Arsene Wenger may persist with Arsenal’s three at the back system, but he also might go back to a back four. In either case, one would hope Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin start in their proper positions.
Arsenal have no new injury concerns, though Alexis Sánchez is not at full fitness yet, and Calum Chambers and Jack Wilshere may not be match fit. With a Europa League game on Thursday, followed by Chelsea on Sunday, one imagines Wenger will insure his best players play against Bournemouth and Chelsea, and rotates for Köln.
WHAT: The Premier League, matchday 4, The Emirates. I will be there. What a magical stadium. Such great memories. What a wonderful competition. Arsenal, the Arsenal versus the Bournemouth.
