Danny Welbeck will miss a month with a groin injury, a preliminary scan has revealed according to the Telegraph. The injury, which could be longer if it reveals Welbeck suffered a tear, will mean he will miss at least 6 Arsenal games, as well as 2 England games, a blow for Welbeck, who had been reintroduced into the England squad during the last international break.
Welbeck has started all of Arsenal’s league games so far, and has scored three goals. His pressing and industry, as well as link-up play, was impressive on Sunday against Chelsea, and he’s been a useful option as Alex Lacazette has integrated into the side and Alexis has slowly worked his way back to match sharpness.
In Welbeck’s absence, Alexis will presumably be hastened back to the starting lineup, but Olivier Giroud could also start upfront, with Lacazette playing off of him. Other options include Alex Iwobi, who started on Sunday, or Theo Walcott, who has only started once this campaign, against Köln.
