Leicester City had a bid rejected for Evans earlier this week, while Manchester City are still in pursuit with an improved bid expected soon. West Brom is reportedly looking for £30 million for Evans.
Arsenal need to improve their defense after a very disappointing start to the season, which has seen the Gunners concede 8 goals in 3 games. With the possibility that Shkodran Mustafi could be on his way out, Arsenal will need to move quickly in the next two days.
Arsenal spent around £35 million for a then 24 year old Mustafi, who Arsene Wenger appears to have lost faith in. Spending about the same amount for a 29 year old Evans would make an aging Arsenal team even older.
The chance that Man City and Arsenal will be in a bidding war for the services of Evans is interesting given Man City’s pursuit of Alexis Sanchez.
There are also rumors that Kieran Gibbs could be headed to West Brom, but no reports if he would be included in any deal for Jonny Evans.
Details will continue to come in today and we will update the story as we learn more.
