Transfer rumor: Virgil van Dijk to Arsenal?

With rumors swirling that Shkodran Mustafi might be on his way to Inter Milan, the question then becomes “what happens to that spot?” Well, let’s have another rumor, shall we?

In a perfect world, Arsenal could keep Mustafi AND get van Dijk, but we’ll see how this plays out. I had not heard of Michael Gravesande before, but he works for the BBC and he’s got that little blue check mark on the Twitters, so I’m inclined to think this particular rumor has some legs.

The defender handed in a transfer request earlier this month, and it seems like his relationship with Southampton is pretty much broken. Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly expressed interest as well, but if Gravesande’s report is true, Arsenal might actually be in pole position in this race.
