It was a very good performance and win by Arsenal U23’s. Reiss Nelson (of preseason fame) and Eddie Nketiah (our big, youth striker prospect) each had a brace. Before his sending off, Jack looked really fit, both physically and technically. He grabbed the assist on Arsenal’s third goal and created the fourth with a nice throughball. It was good to see him looking like Jack Wilshere after his languid performance against Derby County U23 last week.
Other standout performers were Julio Pleguezuelo (back from his Mallorca loan), Donyell Malen (the Ajax Academy striker prospect was impressive on the right wing), and the wingbacks, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Josh Da Silva, each of whom had an assist. Rob Holding was disappointing, once again struggling with distribution from the RCB position.
