The Alexis Sanchez transfer saga seems to be reaching its climax. The most trustworthy Ornacle has spoken this morning on what is happening behind the scenes:
#AFC made Sanchez big offer, hope he stays. But if set on leaving + fee acceptable possible he'll go this summer rather than free next #MCFC

So, the binary situation we mostly suspected would occur, it seems, has. The chance that Arsenal would keep Alexis for one more year while risking his leaving on a free seemingly has gone, and it’s come down to him staying at Arsenal on a new deal or him leaving and Arsenal cashing in. Whatever arguments one can make for Arsenal retaining his services for one more year no matter what, and there are those who have held this view, are vanishing.
It’s not ideal, of course, that he should go to Manchester City. Selling a top talent to a league rival is suboptimal to say the least, and if this happens, City’s attacking depth will be terrifying. Nothing has happened yet, but Alexis’ choices have become stark.
Stay tuned, as always: as this develops, we’ll have more for you.
