According to Diego Costa, Antonio Conte, manager of Chelsea Football Club, has told him via text that he is surplus to requirements at the Premier League Champions. It is an extremely interesting development as the Spanish striker led the club in league goals with 20 in their title-winning campaign. Chelsea’s success was via defensive stability, Eden Hazard being able to single-handedly carry the ball up into dangerous areas, and Costa being able to ruthlessly finish chances. The team rarely played backup striker, the talented Michy Batshuayi, and will be in the market for a new center forward.
All this means that Diego Costa, one of the best strikers in the Premier League over the past few seasons, is available to the highest bidder. Arsenal are currently on the hunt for a center forward, initially targeting Monaco’s striker prodigy Kylian Mbappé. If that pursuit falls through, should the Gunners look to acquire Costa, a talented, Premier League proven striker?
