Arsenal, in a creative way that shows that their social media game is top of the charts, have confirmed the arrival of Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke.

Kolasinac will officially join the club in July, when pre-season commences. Arsenal fought off interest from Juventus, Milan and Manchester City to capture the 23-year old, with speculation rife that his signing showed Arsene Wenger was going to remain at the club. Kolasinac, who can operate as a left back and a left wing-back, is a front-foot defender, as are most of Arsenal’s defensive players. His versatility, and comfort as either a left back or wing back, will enable Arsenal to switch from three to four as needed, and will also allow Nacho Monreal to play as a left-sided centre back in a back three without the downgrade in technical quality at wing back as there was at times this season.

His arrival should spell the end of Kieran Gibbs’ time at the club, with reported interest from West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle, who are set to meet Arsenal’s evaluation of £15m.
