Speaking ahead of Chile’s Confederations Cup final against Germany, Alexis Sánchez said that his future “is clear but I can’t tell you anything.” This, of course, comes off the back of Manchester City’s confidence that Alexis will end up signing for them, based on his desire to play for Manchester City and again play for Pep Guardiola. Asked whether there was any chance of him staying at Arsenal, Alexis responded “I don’t know, my friend, I don’t know.”
At this point, it’s clear Alexis wants to play at Manchester City. Short of releasing a statement Robin van Persie style, he could not make it more apparent that he, Atom and Humber want to leave London for Manchester. Whether Arsenal will countenance a sale remains to be seen. In the Telegraph, Matt Law reports that Alexis fears Arsenal may hold him to his contract, and in return will threaten to leave for nothing at the end of the year. Which, congratulations, Matt, you’ve learned how contracts work! Amazing scoop.
Ultimately, this changes nothing from our last Alexis report, aside from effectively having it confirmed.
