The left back appears to be on his way out of the club.

Reports yesterday indicate that Tony Pulis is interested in bringing Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs over to The Hawthorns next season. The report states that West Bromwich Albion is currently facing competition from fellow Albion, Brighton & Hove, and Newcastle United.

Gibbs has been at Arsenal since he was 14 after the Wimbledon academy shuttered. Since then, he’s risen through the Arsenal youth ranks and earned a spot, at various period’s, as Arsenal’s starting left back. However, since the arrival of Nacho Monreal, he’s largely been on the periphery of the starting XI, particularly over the last two seasons. With that, as well as the rumored addition of Sead Kolasinac, it appears Gibbs’ time as a Gunner is coming to a close.

Still an excellent defender at the left back position, Gibbs would be a worthy addition to a mid-table side like West Brom. It would seem he could do better than a newly promoted side such as Brighton or Newcastle, but if they want to make a splash, that’s one way to do it. Either way, Gibbs has been a great ambassador for the club and wherever he ends up, we at The Short Fuse wish him well.
