Every transfer season vomits forth a lot of fun little rumors, some more credible than others. Today, we see two rumors being vomited concerning the Meaty French Forehead himself, Olivier Giroud. Firstly, there’s where he’s apparently not going; there had been some talk of him heading back to France to play for Lyon, but today at Lyon’s unveiling of Bertrand Traore, club president Jean-Michel Aulas said this:
Lyon's quest to sign Giroud looks over after president Aulas said '#Arsenal want to keep him' & added 'we don't want to stockpile forwards'— Matt Spiro (@mattspiro) June 26, 2017
So, that is, if you believe him, apparently that.Does this mean Giroud’s going nowhere? Well, that’s the OTHER thing that was vomited forth today. John Cross reports that West Ham are preparing to offer Arsenal £20 million, and offer Giroud £130K a week, to move to the east end of London.
I’m not sure how true that particular rumor is - £20 million seems kinda low, and I’m also not sure how much Olivier Giroud wants to play at West Ham or whether that desire outweighs his desire to stay at Arsenal in the event Alexandre Lacazette arrives. So much of all of this is up in the air right now, it’s hard to say with any accuracy what will happen. I just want things to start happening.
