The match has been officially announced for Sunday, August 6th, at 2:00 pm (9:00 am EDT), a week after Arsenal play host to the Emirates Cup and square off versus Benfica and Sevilla.
Thanks to the league fixture release yesterday, we now know that within a span of three months Arsenal and Chelsea will meet three times - the teams meet in Beijing at the iconic Bird’s Nest in late July as part of both club’s Asian summer tours, followed by the Community Shield, and then on Matchday three in September at Stamford Bridge.
It’s fair to say that the teams will get quickly acquainted with one another and the changes each of them have made to their squad and how it impacts the way they set up and play by the time they meet in the league in September.
