Arsenal have won the FA Cup for a record 13th time, and Arsene Wenger has won the trophy for the 7th time as Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1. Alexis Sánchez put Arsenal 1-0 up after 7 minutes with a controversial goal. Victor Moses was sent off for simulation in the second half, but 10-man Chelsea equalised through Diego Costa, with David Ospina culpable. From the restart, though, Arsenal went back ahead: Olivier Giroud’s cross was headed in by Aaron Ramsey, his second Cup winner in three years. And Arsenal, with a back three expertly marshalled by Per Mertesacker, making his first start of the season, held on.
Arsenal were deserved winners. Despite the controversial nature of the goal, they had many chances, fluffed, on the counter attack. It could’ve been a lot easier; but this is Arsenal, it’s never easy.
Whatever your opinion on Arsene Wenger, this is a great moment for the club. Arsenal were excellent, Arsene Wenger’s tactics were excellent, and every player was excellent. Love this club.
