While reports have linked Kolasinac to Arsenal for nearly a month, the deal had not yet been announced as neither Schalke nor Arsenal’s season had ended. However, Schalke played their final match last week, for which Kolasinac was suspended, and Arsenal conclude their domestic season with tomorrow’s FA Cup final.
Kolasinac would mark the beginning of a busy summer for Arsenal, with contracts to be sorted for Arsene Wenger, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, and with likely departures and additions as Arsenal adjust their squad in preparation for the Europa League.
One likely departure will be Kieran Gibbs, who is hoping to be fit and selected for tomorrow’s final. With Gibbs out of contract in 2018, and Nacho Monreal vital since Arsenal switched to a wingback system, and more versatile, one imagines Gibbs will be on his way out of the Emirates.
