It all comes down to this. It’s a bit overly simplistic to say that winning the FA Cup would redeem Arsenal’s season - it won’t, not entirely - but it would be very, very nice to look back on one of the most frustrating seasons Arsenal have had in the last 20 years with some sort of fondness, wouldn’t it?
Arsenal go into this game a depleted force. Laurent Koscielny is listed as DNP - Dumbass, while Gabriel is out with a knee injury that, fortunately, is not an ACL tear. Ox and Alexis are back in training and will probably be available, although le boss is being le circumspect about Alexis. But do you really believe Alexis won’t play?
Arsene Wenger has always loved the FA Cup. If he wins it this year, Arsenal will retake the lead in total number of Cups won, and as mentioned, can put a bit of a positive spin on the season in general. Even with a roster dealing with injuries and suspensions, I’m not really willing to bet against Arsene in an FA Cup final; he’ll make sure the Arsenal he does have is ready and able to go. So let’s go get us a Cup, shall we?
