I talked a bit yesterday about the relegated teams in the Premier League, so today let’s talk a bit about promoted teams from the Championship. Well, not officially promoted yet, but Fulham was effectively toast, as far as promotion, as late as February, and now they’re on the verge of the Championship promotion playoffs.

France is investigating the bid process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. I highly doubt this will move either of the tournaments (it definitely isn’t going to affect next year’s), or even that an investigation will come to any sort of actionable conclusion, but I like a nice bit of pointless theater, so.

Stephanie McCaffrey of the Chicago Red Stars had the temerity to swear in a match in Portland on Saturday, and she got caught doing it on live TV. I know, right? Apparently it was a problem for a lot of people, because apparently women can’t swear or some such horseshit, so McCaffrey addressed those people and the incident in an excellent post.

The USMNT is edging closer to a return to the denim look of the early 90’s:

Seriously, it’s only a couple degrees removed.

Did you see Emre Can’s goal yesterday? It was pretty great.

The Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union haven’t won a game in close to a calendar year.
