Arsène Wenger has revealed today that the black box of his future will be opened at a board meeting following next weekend’s FA Cup final. From the Guardian:

Asked when the board meeting is scheduled for, Wenger replied: “I think it is after the FA Cup final.” Pushed on whether that is when a decision on his future will be finalised he said: “Yes. You have certainly to know that there are many aspects of a football club which have to be discussed at a board meeting.

“One of them is, of course, what is happening with the manager, the future, the players who have to come in, the renewal of contracts. You don’t miss problems in a board meeting.

The amateur psychoanalyst inside of me wants to find it interesting that he used the word “problem” there, but it probably is a bit of a Wengerism. And if you had to ask me right now, I’m leaning towards the likelihood of his staying in his job for at least one more year, if not two—it seems foolhardy beyond probability that the board would leave a decision this late if it wasn’t going to be to keep Wenger, but it sounds like we will know for certain in a matter of days, quite possibly. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
