It’s half way through the week, and it’s match day. How’s your week been so far? We’ve had two days of sun and clear skies, which after the winter we had is absolutely amazing and I never want it to end, even though it’s supposed to end this weekend.
Like it or not, video assistant refereeing is becoming a thing. This is a quick video with awful music explaining how it’s being rolled out in MLS.
Sticking with MLS for the time being, one of my favorite things is traveling to away games with all my Timbers Army friends - both actual and on-the-day friends. This Vancouver Whitecaps fan traveled to just outside Denver to watch his Whitecaps play the Colorado Rapids...but he had no friends of either variety with him. Props to you, solo travel guy.
Another MLS club, Atlanta United, has a deal to sign Brad Guzan, he of the three nutmeg goals conceded over the weekend, in July. With Boro being relegated, ATL petitioned FIFA to allow Guzan to move early, but that petition was denied.
One half of Cardiff’s 2017 Champions League final is set, as Juventus saw off Monaco 2-1 (4-1 on aggregate) to reach the final against a team from Madrid to be decided tomorrow.
With the loss, Monaco may see a very abrupt, very large number of departures.
FIFA is investigating Paul Pogba’s transfer from Juventus to Manchester United, a transfer that netted Pogba’s agent nearly half - a reported £41 million - of the player’s £89.3m transfer fee.
In addition to the Premier League, Chelsea’s kids could also win the Premier League U18 title on Friday with a win.
