Talkin’ loud and sayin’ nothing: Arsenal board release statement

Well, that clears everything up!

With all the uncertainty swirling around Arsenal these days, we’ve all been looking for some sort of clarifying statement. Whether it’s from Arsene Wenger, from the board, from Stan, any clues as to what is happening or what may happen next would be most welcome.

Well, today, Sir Chips Keswick, board member and president emeritus of The Most Colonial-Era English Name Ever Society, had this to say:

“We are fully aware of the attention currently focused on the club and understand the debate. We respect that fans are entitled to their different individual opinions but we will always run this great football club with its best long-term interests at heart.

"Arsène has a contract until the end of the season. Any decisions will be made by us mutually and communicated at the right time in the right way.”

So, yeah. That helps. Everything’s clear now! Arsene’s manager until he isn’t! Here’s a link to where I found that quote, but honestly, I put the whole thing up there, so there may be no need to click.

I don’t expect the club to say anything super-specific, but this was so vague as to be pointless. It’s also vaguely condescending towards the attitudes of fans, not recognizing or caring that they may have a point, but that’s a separate issue; if my choice is for the club to actually say nothing or for them to put out 71 words that say exactly nothing, I’ll choose the former.
