Arsene Wenger spoke to reporters on team status and it’s not all rosy ahead of their massive game vs. Manchester City on Sunday. Petr Cech remains out with a calf injury that he suffered at West Brom before the interlull. Estimated to be out four weeks, he appears to be on schedule as Wenger stated he would likely miss Wednesday’s game against West Ham as well. After that, he’ll be re-evaluted to see if he can go the following weekend. Until then, it’s Disco Dave Ospina all the way.
Lucas Perez also remains out with a thigh injury but the rest of the team survived the interlull and are ready to go.
Wenger also believes the team will be boosted by the return of Mesut Ozil, who played 20 minutes for Germany, and is fit to start. Which he should, unless Wenger is going to do proceed with caution with the German. Given past peformances, the Gunners sorely need him.
The update on fellow midfield maestro Santi Cazorla was less rosy. Will he return to fitness?
Unfortunately no. I think the season is over for him.
Dang. Pour one out for Cazorla. Hope you find your leg again, bud.
