Given current run of form for Arsenal, it isn’t surprising that rumours of player dissatisfaction abound. But, even as the top players are continually linked with moves away from North London, it appears one player is just fine, thank you.
Lucas Perez told Radio Marca that he is “satisfied” with his move to Arsenal, despite spending the majority of it watching from the sidelines. Brought in from Deportivo la Coruña to shore up the attacking line, the Spaniard has only featured in 21 games, 11 times a substitutions, but put up an rather impressive 8 goals and 3 assists in all competitions. Yet to nail down a string of starts, it appears to not bother him:
“Although I’m not a starter, I have a very good relationship with Wenger. A team like Arsenal has very good players, especially in attack. The coach can only choose 11 and the only thing I can do is make the most of the chances I’m given.
“Whenever I’ve played, I’ve done well and that gives me confidence. I have to be patient and continue to fight. This has been an opportunity to progress and not just from a sporting standpoint.
“It has been an opportunity to join one of the best teams in the world and that is why I’m very satisfied.”
Lucas also credits early injuries during his Arsenal tenure as an reason for his lack of starts, but is set to move forward and perform for the team. With the team desperate for results, he’s as good a choice to shake up the roster as any.
So, there you go. Put away those “Lucas wants out” rumours. He’s here to fight for his spot and, hopefully, he finds it.
