For the last couple years, we’ve had friendly wagers with our online pals at Cartilage Free Captain around raising money - the first year, it was for Thomas’ medical bills, and last year, it was a straight-up challenge to see who could raise more money for their chosen charity, us for the National MS Society and them for Noah’s Ark Hospice.
Last year, of course, they won - it was neck and neck for a while, but they pulled away and eventually beat us comfortably. That’s not a race I mind losing, though, because combined we raised, what, about $6,000 for our charities?
Anyway, nothing comes without a cost. The bet we had made with CFC was that the winner of the bet could run the loser’s website for a day. Well, guess what? That day is upon us.
That’s right, friends. This is the last post that the Short Fuse staff will make until 9PM Pacific Time Friday night. From here on in, every word and image will be created by CFC - it’s all Spurs all day long. What does this mean for you and for us? Well, the first thing it means is that we’re doing this in a spirit of fun and collaboration, so please, if you stick around and interact, don’t be a salty, sore loser.
Accept everything that happens today in that spirit, and please be cool to our guest hosts when you comment. Everything you see on the site in the next 24 hours is pure, undiluted, weapons grade #banter, and not at all meant to be taken personally or seriously.
If you don’t like this idea, and think it’s bad that we’re turning over the site to a rival for the day, I get that, and I’m sorry. If that’s the case, maybe stay away from TSF for the day, and come back tomorrow when things will be back to normal. I will say, however, if last year’s takeover day is any indication, you’ll miss a lot of fun stuff.
The TSF staff will retain control of TSF Twitter, and if news happens, we’ll post it there, but for the rest of today, TSF will be brought to you by Dustin Menno and the rest of the Cartilage Free Captainers.
Thanks, and we’ll see you on the other side.
