After the completion of Chelsea’s win over Manchester United in today’s quarter final, four ping pong balls went into a small bowl. Arsenal’s was plucked out right before Manchester City’s, so the Citizens will be heading to Wembley to face Arsenal, who will play as the home team.
These games will take place on the 22nd or 23rd of April. This is handy as Arsenal have no league match scheduled that weekend; this game will come between Middlesbrough away and Tottenham away, so even though this game is still in London, that’ll be three away games on the bounce for Arsenal. Which doesn’t really mean much, but it’s a fun fact.
Chelsea play Tottenham in the other semi, of course, which sets up a great possibility of an all-London final; there will be none of the usual complaining about last train times if that’s the case. The prospect of facing Spurs in a cup final is quite tasty, as well.
