After he scored a goal in Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Sutton United on Monday, Theo Walcott joined the prestigious list of Arsenal centurions. He is the 18th Gunner to reach that landmark.
“It’s great,” Walcott told Sky Sports. "I'm lost for words to be fair because I didn't really think about it before and it's just happened. It'll probably hit me in a few days I'm sure, but I really enjoyed that. I'm really proud of that personal achievement of mine.”
Theo joined the club in 2006 and has appeared in 370 matches, and granted I’m bad at math but that appears to come out to around a goal every three or four matches. Good job Theo! Other fun numbers include the fact 63 of his goals have come in the Premier League, per Sky Sports.
Walcott was a teenager when he joined Arsenal to much fanfare, but hasn’t always endeared himself to the Arsenal fanbase over the years. So this is a nice moment for him. Perhaps now would be a good time to post about some of your favorite Walcott goals in the comments, before going back to dreaming of who we’ll replace him with this summer.
