Wenger to sit among the Chelsea fans this Saturday

He’s not allowed on the touchline after all

In a situation that seems ripe for comedy, Arsène Wenger will apparently be spending this Saturday sitting in the Chelsea supporters section of Stamford Bridge, per the Evening Standard.

Wenger is currently serving a four-match touchline ban, but he is still allowed to talk to the team before the match and at halftime. However, according to the Standard, such tasks would be too difficult for Wenger if he sat in the director’s box (because of distance to the dressing room I guess? the article doesn’t really specify). Thus, the solution of having Wenger sit among the Chelsea fans.

While a tiny part of me would kind of love to see Wenger get in a fight with some rival fans, no need to worry about his or anyone else’s safety, as Chelsea has apparently arranged for a security for Wenger to and from his seat. So I guess they’re not a completely despicable club. And Wenger will also have Arsenal security staff seated with him in the stands.
