Wenger is just like us! He wants Özil to start scoring again too

But he fears the playmaker may be lacking in confidence

Arsenal star Mesut Özil has not scored a goal since the match against Stoke City on December 10th, and Arsène Wenger is hoping that will change. After Alexis Sanchez notched a brace this weekend, Wenger said of Özil, “It’s time for him to score again,” per the Daily Mail.

“Maybe he will find confidence back as well, because he misses chances. He has chances and he misses the chances that don’t look not feasible for him,” Wenger said. “I felt he did not feel confident (against Hull). It’s always a problem because you think he can deliver something special but it’s true that technically he missed things that he is not used to.”

Unfortunately, Wenger seems to be at a loss as to why Özil is undergoing this crisis of confidence. “I don’t know – it can happen,” he said. “I don’t know any specific reason. I had a chat with him (on Friday).”

Well, since I assume Özil reads this blog, try posting some of your favorite inspirational YouTube videos in the comments. With an away match at Bayern on Wednesday, anything’s worth a shot.
