This comes after the young Portuguese forward was mentioned by his new manager in his opening press conference as new boss at the club. Milan’s new manager, Gennaro Gattuso hinted at Silva’s possible departure saying, “He is a player with great qualities and is also very young. I think he has a good rating in the transfer market.”
He went on to add that, “He can be sold easily, especially since I have not seen him do a one-two in a long time.”
Based off that, you could make the argument that the manager does not think too highly of the young player and could look to cash in. However, it’s hard to see that happening, with all that is going on at AC Milan right now. Milan currently sit in seventh place in Serie A, 18 points back of first-place Napoli, and if new club owner Li Yonghong is to pay off the $354 million loan he took out to buy the club, Champions League is a must. Therefore, it seems unlikely that the club will start to sell off assets like Silva from the club already.
So make what you will of this one, but odds are against Silva moving to Arsenal anytime soon, or to any other team for that matter. Nothing’s impossible, obviously, but this seems like one of those rumors you can forget was a thing in a day or two.
