The last time The Short Fuse published a podcast, Arsenal was in the midst of beating Reading 7-5 in the League Cup (later losing in that competition to Bradford City in quite the historic fashion), Wigan Athletic were still in the EPL, Marouane Chamakh, Johan Djourou, Andre Santos, Park Chu-young Emmanuel Frimpong were still Arsenal players, and the world, relatively-speaking, wasn’t teetering on the edge of extinction.
Which brings us to November 21, 2017, the day when The Short Fuse sprinkled some dirt and other random, dusty material on the corpse of the Fusillade, which miraculously resurrected and immediately asked where the nearest bathroom was.
We’ll be recording on a much more regular basis going forward, with all sorts of fun and exciting special guests planned in the future. The first rebirth episode, as you’ll probably notice, is a bit rough around the edges as we get used to swimming back in these waters once again, and while we’re waiting from iTunes and Stitcher to get a new podcast approval your options for the time being are to listen through our podcast host.
However, what you’ll also hopefully pick up in today’s episode is that we aim to provide you commentary and insight that’s more than simple, superfluous hot takes that you get everywhere else.
So sit back, get some work or studying done as you listen to Aidan, fbj0 (otherwise known by The Short Fuse staff as Vic Akers - long story, don’t ask), and yours truly discuss the North London Derby, a silly Twitter controversy, and what Sven Mislintat’s appointment means to Arsenal as it plans for a life beyond Arsene Wenger.
