If you’ve been reading this here blog a while, you know my attitude towards internationals. I am very much an outlier with my dislike for them, but I’ve always been a club over country person, and I spend most international weekends ignoring soccer almost entirely, unless something happens that forces me to pay attention.
Well, in Germany’s game v. Azerbaijan, this just happened and it definitely got my attention:

It’s obviously way too early to know what exactly the extent of that injury is, but it was a non-contact injury to a thigh or a hamstring. Usually, injuries like that are weeks rather than days, but until Mustafi gets back to London and gets an exam, we won’t really know the extent of the problem.
It is, however, a safe bet that he’ll probably miss the Watford match on Saturday. Hopefully that will be the extent of it and he’ll be back ready to go soon after that, but we will see what tomorrow brings.
