End of October can only mean one thing: transfer news!
Arsene Wenger is reportedly setting up a £2 million bid for Ipswich’s breakout teenager Tristan Nydam. Nydam, who was born in Zimbabwe, recently represented England at hte U19 level and has cracked Ipswich’s lineup for the first time this season. At only seventeen years of age, Nydam has had a string of impressive showings for the Championship side, starting six games and subbing in to another four. As of yet, he has not scored.
Ipswich is said to be keen to hold onto Nydam and who can blame them? Should he be impactful for a whole season, not only could they push for promotion but as a young English player, that fee could increase significantly. £2 million, good sir? Pish.
Desperate for some depth in the midfield, this won’t be the type of signing to help the team now but Wenger seems set on continuing his theme of collecting a solid crop of youth to improve the team in the future. Adding to other youth prospects like Rob Holding, Eddie Nketiah and Chuba Akpom, the future could be driven by the youth sooner than opposed to later.
Wait... all these players are English? Well, if at first you don’t succeed...
