Arsenal’s match glut marches on Saturday verses Swansea on Saturday and emphasis on three points couldn’t be higher as it’s their last comfortable match for some time. At home vs a lower table team ahead of a long stretch of Europa games wedged between Manchester City (a), Tottenham (h) and Burnley (a). Oh, and an interlull.
It’s not a good look, November. If I eat all my daughter’s Hallowe’en candy, I blame you.
The good news is, despite a stumble against Watford, Arsenal are in decent form and health. The team that dismantled Everton should be available and one cannot deny the boast Eddie Nketiah’s romp in the League Cup could be for club moral. No reason to expect a flat opening at the Emirates.
But Swansea can be one of those tricky teams. Recent history has as many ups as downs. Despite the Welsh team’s slow start to the season, where they are bleeding goals, sitting last in GA in the league, they often play Arsenal aggressive. Should Arsenal have one eye on Man City, they could get suckered here. Still, you’d bet that Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil will find plenty of attacking options against them.
As well, it bares repeating that Swansea are named after one of the most evil birds known to man. Large and graceful? Don’t be fooled... a swan will hurt you for breathing. Never trust a swan.
