Arsenal started all three of Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette, and Mesut Ozil for the first time all season. The attacking trio play incredibly well and led to Arsenal securing all three points in a 5-2 win over Everton in what may be the Gunners best performance of the season.
It didn’t start off great for Arsenal. Everton snagged the first goal early off an error from Granit Xhaka. To be fair, he appears to have been fouled by Idrissa Gueye, but he also maybe should have played the ball out of danger quicker.
Rooney took advantage and slotted home a great goal to make it 1-0 Everton.

Arsenal were able to recover later in the first half to equalize. Xhaka had a long range attempt that was saved by Jordan Pickford, but Nacho Monreal jumped on the rebound to make it 1-1 at the half.
The second half was then completely dominated by Arsenal. This was the best half of the season for Arsenal. They continued to create chances, but were also clinical in finishing. Everton were utterly outclassed.
Alexis played a good cross to Ozil to make it 2-1, with Ozil scoring with his head.
Gueye was then shown his second yellow card and Everton were down to 10 men. Gueye was a very “Angry Bird” today and had that second yellow coming. He probably should have been subbed off at halftime by Ronald Koeman — who may have just managed his last game for Everton.
Lacazette then made it 3-1 off a assist from Ozil.
Ozil was the best player on the pitch. He hardly put a step in wrong today and was creating chances left and right. His seven created chances is tied for the most in the Premier League this season. Amid speculation that Ozil already has his sights on a move to Manchester United, he played brilliantly.
Jack Wilshere made an appearance after performing well in the Europa league. He was played in the left winger posistion in the attacking trio. It seems if Wilshere wants to break through into the first team, it will have to be as a wide forward rather than one of the two central midfield spots.
Wilshere provided the assist on the next Arsenal goal to Aaron Ramsey. This was a great moment for Wilshere and hopefully fans will see more of him this season.
Arsenal made another terrible error in defense leading to another Everton goal. Monreal was under pressure and played a poor back pass to Petr Cech. Cech was not expecting the under hit pass and Oumar Niasse was able to pounce on it and score Everton’s second.
Arsenal need to fix their defensive errors moving forward. If it wasn’t for a tremendous attacking performance, those two goal would have cost Arsenal points. This isn’t just a Xhaka problem, it’s a team one.
Alexis was able to get the goal right back with a great finish for Arsenal’s fifth. A tremendous attack day all around from Arsenal.
Arsenal will hope to build off this performance going forward. The team look especially dangerous today starting the front line of Alexis-Lacazette-Ozil for the first time. This performance can hopefully springboard Arsenal’s attack for the rest of the season.
