Santi Cazorla “far” from a return

Oh, Santi Cazorla :(

It looks like Arsenal will not be getting relief from its injury woes in central midfield anytime soon, as Santi Cazorla is apparently “far” away from returning from his achilles injury, according to Arseblog.

“[His recovery is] not going as quickly as I imagined it, so certainly in January he will not come back,” Arsene Wenger said. “It could be a bit longer [than three months].”

Cazorla last played for the Gunners in a Champions League match against Ludogorets in October, and had surgery in December to address a chronic Achilles problem.

Cazorla’s loss is a big one for the club, as his creativity from deep midfield was a crucial part of the squad’s attack when he was on the pitch.

To compound problems, Arsenal has recently lost Francis Coquelin to a hamstring injury for a few weeks. This, plus the departure of Mohamed Elneny to international duty, leaves the team with just two fit starting central midfielders.

Anyways, hopefully Cazorla isn’t too far away from making a return.
