The will-they-won’t-they saga between Arsenal right back and Crystal Palace continues. According to The Guardian, Palace is still working on personal terms with Jenkinson, and they’re willing to pay £7 million for him!
The 24-year-old right back has made only five first team appearances for Arsenal this season, and, um, not impressed. He’s even fallen behind Gabriel (a natural center back) in the rotation. So for Arsenal to get £7 million for him is a total steal, especially since, as the Daily Cannon notes, we only paid around a million pounds for him in the first place.
Jenkinson was a bit of a sentimental favorite to many Arsenal fans, as his lifelong love for the club rivals our own. It’s a real shame that he just didn’t turn out to be Arsenal quality and his career here has to end this way, but that’s life I suppose. As Jack Kerouac once wrote, “What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.”
