Former U.S. Soccer savior and current Arsenal reserve Gedion Zelalem could be leaving the club soon, per ESPN FC. His rumored landing spot? The home of current U.S. Soccer savior Christian Pulisic, Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old Zelalem was a touted Arsenal prospect, but his career at the club has stalled for the time being. His only two appearances with the first team this season both came in the League Cup, and that barely counts as first-team action anyway.

So, while the ‘Merican in me would love to see Zelalem stick around, eventually break through, and bring regular helpings of freedom and apple pie to the Emirates, it is probably best for him to move on at this point. And for Arsenal too, since as ESPN FC notes his contract ends at the end of this season, and it would be a huge waste to lose Zelalem for nothing after all the time spent developing him.

Dortmund, meanwhile, has a pretty youth-oriented squad at the moment, and the less physical nature of the Bundesliga probably suits a player of Zelalem’s build better than the Premier League, so it would be a nice landing spot for the lad.
