Following the news that Arsenal CM Aaron Ramsey will be out for about a month with a hamstring injury, we’ve got a similar timeline for LM Alex Iwobi to return after a thigh injury he suffered in the season opener against Liverpool:
Another blow for #AFC after tests confirm Alex Iwobi could miss up-to a month following the thigh strain he suffered during the loss to LFC.— Ben Dinnery (@BenDinnery) August 17, 2016
Iwobi, still just 20 years old, joins a lengthening injury list for Arsenal with Ramsey (hamstring, ~1 month), CF Danny Welbeck (knee, ~4-5 months), CB Per Mertesacker (knee, ~4-5 months), RB Carl Jenkinson (knee, ~3 months) and CB Gabriel (ankle, 6-8 weeks) making up the unavailable roster.
Luckily, the roster looks strong enough across the midfield to handle Iwobi’s (and Ramsey’s) absence for a few games. The next four games see Arsenal head to Leicester and Watford for a two-game road spell, return home against Southampton and then hit the road against Premier League returnees Hull City.
If anything, Iwobi and Ramsey put a stronger timeline up against September 24’s massive home clash against Chelsea.
Iwobi rose to first-team action last season with eight starts and five substitution appearances.
