According to the Daily Mirror’s John Cross, Arsenal are confident of completing a move for Shkodran Mustafi, though are unlikely to do so before Friday’s deadline to register players for the first match of the new season:

Arsenal are confident of completing a £20million-plus deal for Valencia’s German defender Shkodran Mustafi but the transfer is unlikely to be done in time to solve their injury crisis for the visit of Liverpool on Sunday.

But Arsenal appear to have dropped their interest in Alexandre Lacazette with Lyon’s £60million price miles above Wenger’s valuation.

The fee reported for Mustafi appears to be on the low side, as recent reports had discussed £25m or even £30m. If the deal is completed, it is likely to be higher, with Arsenal making it seem lower based on clauses and other add on fees.

As for Lacazette, he seems to be a transfer on the backburner, with Lyon’s requested fee extremely high for a player who is essentially a poacher.
